You will need:
Round Cake Pan (6″, 10″)
Round cake board (6″, 12″)
Dowels Rods
Decorating Tips
(1,2,4,12,18,67, 789)
Decorating Icing Colors
(Ivory, yellow, orange,brown,red)
Instructions:
- Bake the cakes.
- Put cakes on top of card boards. ( 6 in cake on 6 ” card board. 10 in cake on 12″ card board.
- Separate in a bowl some icing to cover the cakes and add a little bit of ivory color to the icing with a toothpick and mix, it have to be a light ivory color.
- Get a big bag and put tip 789 inside the bag, cut the bag a little to let the tip show out of the bag.
- Fill the bag, half way, with the ivory color icing.
- Get the bag already fill with icing and using the flat part of the tip to toward the cake, start icing the top of the cakes on in a circular motion; start icing the cake all around and smooth with the spatula.
- The small cake will be on top of the big cake, parallel with the big one,(no on the center of the big one) ,so be careful and put the cake lightly on top to mark a circle where that cake will be on top of the big one, Take the cake out, don’t let the cake rest on the big one yet.
- Insert one dowel rod on the center of the small circle that you did on the 10in cake,make a little mark on the dowel where the icing start to measured, them pull out the dowel rod and cut the dowel on the mark that you make, cut around 6 pieces of the same length.
- Starting on the center where you try the dowel first, put the others five dowel pieces previously cut, around the a circle, live around 1 inch between the circle mark and the inside.
- Make triangular mark at the side of the small cake, they need to connect one with other.
- Get another bag and put inside the base of the coupler and put tip #1and tied with the ring; fill the bag with white icing and start decorating the small cake with Cornelli Lace
technique on top and on the side of the small cake following the triangular mark previously marked.
- Put the small cake on top the big one where you put the dowel.
- To the bag with white icing change the tip#1 to tip #4 and pipe small balls around the border of the cakes, top and bottom of the big cake and on the border of the triangles.
- On the top border of the big cake pipe some Cornelli Lace technique on top of the ball borders.
- In a small bowls mix icing and the rest of the color individually, in a bag put tip #18 and inside the bag add three stripe of icing with the color yellow, orange and red, and pipe 3 flowers (stars), this will simulate fall flowers with the three color together, do this around the borders of the cakes, around four inches separate one another.
- Prepare bag with green icing and tip #67 and pipe two to three leaf where you previously pipe the flowers (stars).
- To pipe the turkey you will need a bag with brown icing and tip #4, to pipe the shell shape feather; pipe the center of the shell by pressing and pulling down the icing, it will look like a tear drop up-side down.
- You will continue pipe the shell shape feather making a semi-circle; on top of the pointing area of the shell you will pipe a tear drop to shape the body.
- With white icing and tip#2, you will pipe feather tips using zig-zag motion.
- With tip #2 tuck into top of body and pull up to form the neck, squeeze harder to form a ball for the head.
- With brown icing and tip #2 pipe curved shell on either side of the body for wings, add two legs, feet.
- Using white icing, with light pressure and tip #1 pipe dot for eyes.
- With yellow icing and tip#1 pull out beak and finish with red icing tip#1 the wattle.
- To finish decorating the cake, put one ring candle holder on the middle of the small cake and the other two at each site of the big cake, and inside each ring put the candles.
There is your masterpiece, the center of your Thanksgiving dinner table!
