Creating a Wedding Cake

Cake decorating sends you to a different places, and emotions; you will enjoy the adventure and fantasy that creating and decorating a cake will take you, these will make you go to a different world where toys, candies and sweets are present. Use some of the natural resources like leaf and flowers to make this beautiful cake with the fountain and lake giving you peace, love and serenity. You do not need to be a pro to decorate a cake, just let your imagination flow, follow some steps and you will see the beautiful Wedding Cake, Birthday Cake or any Special Occasion Cake, that you can make and decorate putting all of your effort, patient and love.
Accessories you’ll need:
- 6, 10, 14, Round Pans
- 18″ Half Round Pan
(bake 2 of this cake)
- Classic Separator 8in
(plates)
- Roman Column Tier Set
- “kolor-Flo” fountain
- Grecian Pillars
5″ (4 needed)
- Piping Gel
- Paste color
(blue)
- Swans (2 needed)
- Cake Circles
(one for each cake, 2 in larger than your cake)
- Wooden Dowel Rods
- Trim ‘N Turn Turntable
- 3′ glass, mirror or wood (to rest the cake)
Instructions:
- Place the cake on a cake board ( cake circle
s).
- Put the cake on the Trim ‘N Turn turntable.
- With a stainless-still icing spatula
, put a large amount of thin icing on the center of the cake.
- Spread the icing on top, pushing toward the edges.
- Smooth the top of the cake.
- Cover the sides with icing, smooth the sides , smooth the center; to help you smooth the icing you can deep the spatula in hot water, dry the spatula and glide across the entire surface.
- Insert one Dowel Rods
straight down into the cake, mark with a knife the rod; to know the exact height that you will need.
- Pull the rod out, and cut about 22 pieces on the same length ,( 8 rod for the 18″ cake, 8 for the 14″ and 6 for the 10″).
- With the upper tier size in mind (the small one), put a cake board and centered on top of the cakes and press it gently to mark an outline to guide you where to put the dowel rods.
- Insert rods into the cakes ,spacing about 1 1/2 inches in front the imprinted outline; push straight down until touch the board (follow the circle motion and putting the respective amount of dowel rod pieces depending the side of the cake).
- On top of the 14 in cake put the10 in cake and decorated both together, one on top on the other.
- With Pattern Press Set
(large C-Scroll) you will press the large C-scroll around the cake on the top side of the cake (not on top of the cake).
- Get a Decorating Bags
, used a couplers
and put the base (the big triangular piece) inside the bag, get the ring and put the tip inside the ring, then twist the ring to the base to tide the bag and the tip together.
- Fill the bag around half way with thin icing, it will be easy to manage, (do not over fill).
- With Decorating Tips (tip #1) on position start decorating the cake using Cornelli Lace
Techniques (You can press using the stencil or you can do it yourself looking at the diagrams);on top of the cake and the inside of the C-scroll previously trace on the cake.
- With a tip16, to make a garland border; pipe a zigzag puff following the outline imprinted on the top side edge (C-scroll) a light pressure then a heavier pressure toward the center and then light pressure to form the tapered end of the zigzag border.
- On the side bottom of the cake about 2″ of the bottom of the cake, outline the cake all the way around, start piping a Cornelli Lace Techniques all around the 2″ mark on the cake, (down on the cake), them on the top of the lace following the outline line, pipe dots all around the cake, do the same on the bottom of the cake were the lace ended, to finish with the icing decoration on the cake.
- Place the 18″ cake on the center of your base (glass, mirror or wood), put on top of the cake the Roman Column Tier Set, on top of the separator that is resting on the cake put the “Kolor-Flo” Fountain.
- On top of the separator above the fountain put the 14″ and 10″ cake, on top of the 10″ cake put the Classic Separator and the Grecian Pillar together; finally the last cake (6″ cake) on top of the separator.
- Mix the piping gel with the blue color to make the pond, spread the mix on your base, beside each side of the 18″ cake, giving oval shape.
- Pipe white icing all around the pond, put on top of the gel the swans.
- Fill the empty spot on the separator plate with leaf and flower or fill with the motive or flower that you have selected and same with the top decoration.
